The Shizu Hamono Morinoki SM-4001 bannou is a Japanese utility knife that was designed to be simple and efficient. Bannou means 10,000 skills. Shizu Hamono Morinoki blade

The blade is made from Daido DSR-1k6 steel. A very strong type of stainless steel. It is not the hardest steel, but that makes the knives easy to use, relatively flexible and also very easy to sharpen yourself.

Shizu Hamono Morinoki handle

The handle is made from one piece of Japanese zelkova wood. A light type of wood, both in weight and colour. The beautiful markings run lengthwise across the handle. This makes it clear that the handle isn't entirely square. The end of the handle is slightly bigger. This gives you a firm grip and good control over the blade.

Even though the handle is coated in clear varnish, we recommend keeping it as dry as possible. Wash the knife by hand and then dry it well.

Because of this striking wood grain, each knife is unique. It is therefore possible that the knife you see in our photos will differ slightly from the knife you receive at home. These will only be minor deviations in the pattern on the handle. The material used and the quality standard are the same for each knife.
